The Usk Inn
The Usk was established in the 1840s at the time of the Brecon to Merthyr Railway. It has an enviable position on the edge of the village, opposite the former railway station and yard. Imagine if you can, how the patrons of the Inn would have felt when the Wild Run of 1878 spilled the Locomotive Hercules onto Station Road! ! The Brecon to Monmouthshire canal runs along the 300 ft contour, through the centre of the village, about a quarter of a mile from the Inn, in some instances at roof level. The Usk Inn has been transformed from an ordinary village pub into a country inn and restaurant with rooms of excellence. The Usk has been completely refurbished in sympathetic style, returning to it the atmosphere and ambience of a traditional village inn. The spotless bedrooms are bright and cheerful, finished in a refreshing choice of colours. The Usks location is as good as it gets - attracting a healthy local trade as well as visitors to the Brecon Beacons National Park. Its close to the heart of the Beacons, and also handy for South and Mid Wales. Guests can go walking, fishing or cruising the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, which flows through Talybont.

Dylan

What a fantastic trip ! I am now sat back at my desk feeling totally pi**ed off because I want another day at Porthcawl.

I would like to thank you very much for sorting our trip out, you made it very easy for me because all i had to do was hand the vouchers in.

The hotel was great and the curry house round the corner couldnt have been better placed and the food was top quality ( we went there both nights )

St Pierre was good. we got wet a little bit on the back 9 but it could have been worse

Southerndown was a cracker, very friendly the Pro was a good laugh and the course was excellant ( we got surrounded in sea mist in the morning but it cleared to leave a lovely day in the afternoon )

Royal Porthcawl was simply magnificent, the course the clubhouse the views, all unbeatable. You are a lucky man if you can go and play that cousre when you want ! what a gem. I have played some good courses over the years but that was the best links I have played and one of the best ever, for links golf I would think to beat that you would have to go and play an Open venue !

sorry we didnt meet up, i will have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone planning a trip down your way

many thanks again
